It would appear that despite the credit crunch more people than ever are opting for cosmetic surgery. It seems that in the area of breast surgery this is especially evident with a particular increase in breast reduction surgery and surprisingly this appears to be among men. In fact the number of men opting for this procedure rose by 5% during 2008 alone.

Not surprisingly women's breast augmentation surgical procedures rose by a third to around 8,000 during the same period. Other popular procedures such as tummy tuck surgery saw a similar rise. Strangely one procedure that had until recently remained extremely popular; liposuction, saw a decrease of a third in terms of the people opting for it.

It appears that despite people having to tighten purse strings, interest in plastic surgery has never been stronger. The public also seems to have gotten better at researching and choosing reputable providers and there are certainly many less reputable firms out there, even some of those appearing to be at the top of their game.

With this in mind it is advisable during these cash strapped times to of course not opt for a procedure purely based on price alone as you really do get what you pay for in terms of the care you will receive during the procedure and the quality and duration of aftercare.

Paying less for a procedure may seem like a good idea but to ensure profits are not damaged the company in question may opt for inexperienced surgeons who may not be a member of British regulatory associations such as BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) and BAPRAS (British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons).

If you are considering cosmetic surgery procedures in the UK such as breast enlargement surgery you should seek an accredited surgeon who is registered with BAPRAS or BAAPS to ensure this plastic surgery runs smoothly.
